Do you think the Toronto Blue Jays could win the World Series this year?
TORONTO - It has certainly been a season to remember for the Toronto Blue Jays.
The Canadian Major League Baseball (MLB) team is currently on top of the American League East standings with 59 wins so far. The Detroit Tigers have won 60 games, giving them the highest win count as of this morning.
The Blue Jays are currently on a five game winning streak as they get ready to host the New York Yankees in Game 2 of a three-game series at Rogers Centre tonight. Toronto celebrated a 4-1 victory over New York last night, which also marked its 11th straight win at home.
The Blue Jays have their last regular season MLB game scheduled for September 28th, so we're still two months away from the start of the post season.
Toronto won its last World Series in the fall of 1993. The championship series went to six games against the Philadelphia Phillies and ended with a 8-6 victory for the Jays at the SkyDome (now known as Rogers Centre).
