There will be no recount of the ballots for the municipal election in Blandford Blenheim
WOODSTOCK - "A re-count is simply not justified".
That was the verdict handed down at the Blandford Blenheim municipal re-count trial Thursday afternoon.
Jordan Kent, a Blandford-Blenheim councillor candidate who ran in the 2014 municipal election filed the recount. Kent believed that errors with the new voting technology resulted in false totals.
Kent finished 7th out of 8th candidates with a total of 553 votes, well back of last councillor position.
CAO and Clerk for Blandford Blenheim Fran Bell was extremely satisfied with the decision to allow the results to stand.
Fran Bell also went on to say that the new technology will not deter the township from using the ballot system in further elections
After both sides had time to put their cases forward Thursday, Council for Blandford Blenheim requested that Kent pay over $4,000 in court expenses -- a decision the judge said they would make later and send out by mail.
Kent left the courtroom quickly following the verdict and was unavailable to comment to media.
