Police say the driver of a vehicle travelling southbound collided with another vehicle that was travelling northbound as both cars suffered significant damage, but both drivers sustained minor injuries.
NORFOLK COUNTY - A 24 year-old man from Norfolk County is facing impaired driving charges after being involved in a two-vehicle crash.
Norfolk County OPP responded to the collision on March 8th just after 3:00 am on Highway 24 near Windham.
Inspector and Detachment Commander Joseph Varga says it is important to always be safe while travelling on the roads.
"There is absolutely no safe level of alcohol or drug consumption when getting behind the wheel of any motor vehicle. Please plan ahead, arrange a designated driver or stay overnight. Do not risk your life of the lives of innocent drivers and pedestrians."
One vehicle was heading southbound when it collided with another car that was travelling northbound.
Police say it appeared the driver of the car travelling southbound crossed over the centre line when they both collided. Both drivers lost control with one vehicle stopping on the road and the other ending up in a field. There was significant damage to both vehicles, however only minor injuries were reported.
The man has been charged with operation while impaired- with a blood alcohol concentration level of over 80.
He is scheduled to appear in a Simcoe courtroom at a later date.
