A mainstay with the Norwich Merchants has passed away, and condolences are being sent by the organization.
NORWICH - The Norwich Merchants are remembering one of their own.
Randy Nobbs passed away at the age of 66, and was known as Mr. Merchants. He spent 6 seasons as a player with the Merchants beginning in 1974, then after his playing days he became part of the executive in 1980. Nobbs became President of the club in 1982 and held the role for 29 years, and was a director until his passing.
Nobbs was also a huge part in Norwich, as he coached and umpired Norwich Minor Baseball, he was active with the Legion, and would do anything for anyone. He has won awards from the Government of Canada for community contribution, the Township of Norwich for his service to the community, and from Oxford County for his commitment to sport and recreation. Nobbs became a member of the Norwich Merchants Wall of Fame, and was honoured by the Norwich Chamber of Commerce in 2023 as the Citizen of the Year.
The Norwich Merchants said in a Facebook post, "Randy’s passing will sting for a longtime, but we’ll hold onto the memories and stories forever. Never forgotten….forever missed. Thank You Randy!"
