If the Merchants raise $2 500 tonight, President Ken Gillanders will shave his head for Breast Cancer Awareness
NORWICH - The Norwich Merchants are teaming up with the Canadian Cancer Society of Oxford for their breast cancer awareness night.
Things get started when the puck drops at 8 p.m tonight as the Merchants take on a heated cross town rival the Delhi Travellers. President of the Merchants Ken Gillanders tells Heart FM $1 from every ticket sold and the proceeds from the 50/50 will go towards Breast Cancer Awareness.
"We're hoping that adds up to $2 500 and if that is the case and we reach our goal then I will be getting my head shaved in the Blue Line Club after the game."
Gillanders says he is happy to shave his head for such a great cause.
"My wife is not looking forward to it but I think when you look at people in their situations that don't have any control over that and have to fight cancer, whether it's breast cancer or any other type, they often have to lose their hair and it is a small price to pay for a great cause and really no problem at all."
The teams will also be sporting lots of pink with their hockey tape and laces during the game.
Puck drops at 8 pm in Norwich.
