Over 230 people have signed an online petition against a proposal to increase the speed limit on Main Street in Springford to 60km/hr.
NORWICH TOWNSHIP - A online petition is making the rounds, in hopes of preventing a proposed speed limit increase in Springford.
Oxford County is thinking about increasing the speed limit on Main Street (Oxford Road 19) from 50 kilometres per hour to 60 kilometres per hour.
According to the petition started by Nick Barnim, the area is already bad for speeders because there are no stop signs or crosswalks on Main Street. He also says there are at least eight school bus stops along Main Street, with about 35 to 40 kids under the age of 16 getting on and off those buses.
A total of 238 people had signed the petition as of 10:30 a.m. today and you can find it online here.
Oxford County Council will discuss the matter during the Wednesday June 14th meeting and members of the public are welcome to submit a delegation to present their comments to council. All delegation requests must be e-mailed to clerksoffice@oxfordcounty.ca before Wednesday June 7th at 4:30 p.m.
