Ontario disclosed today that 46% of current COVID-19 hospitalizations are incidental, meaning the patients went to the hospital for other reasons.
ONTARIO - Ontario has updated their hospital data to provide clarity on the amount of people in the hospital with COVID-19.
When looking at todays numbers for example 46 percent of the general COVID-19 hospitalizations are incidental. This means, only 56% of the over 2,000 people in the hospital are in the hospital because of the virus. The other 44 percent went to the hospital for other reasons and then tested positive.
When it comes to ICU rates, right now, the Province lists over 400 people in the ICU with COVID-19. Of those numbers, 17 percent are incidental and are in the ICU for other reasons and just happen to have COVID-19.
