Operation Sharing Hoping for Creative Concepts

Operation Sharing is hoping a 6-day project will lead to some new innovative ideas on the issue of poverty. The Creative Concepts Training Centre is underway today. Co-Chair Keith Hudson says those with a stake in the issue have come to Woodstock for the 6-day exercise. "We have people from Windsor, London, Owen Sound, Ingersoll and Woodstock coming for this first pilot project. A number of the individuals are working in environments where they are dealing directly with people below the poverty line." Huron College with the University of Western Ontario is partnered in on the project. Dean of Theology Bill Danaher tells Heart FM why their students will benefit. "There's a kind of long trend of secularization. In order for the religious communities to step out of that and change the course of that, they have to become better at thinking outside the box, and this is precisely the kind of opportunity that we have." Operation Sharing's Program Coordinator Stephen Giuliano is a graduate of Huron College, and is also a leading force behind the project. The 6-day think tank wraps up on Tuesday, when the groups will present their innovative concepts. Giuliano is calling the presentations the "Angels Den", a take off of the popular "Dragons Den" show where people pitch business ideas to investors.
