NORFOLK COUNTY - Norfolk County OPP are warning the public about the lethal consequences of opioid use.
Already this year, 23 people have overdosed in Norfolk, including 8 deaths. Last year the numbers were even worse, with 68 suspected opioid overdoses in Norfolk and 13 fatalities.
Detachment Commander Inspector Rob Scott says these overdoses highlight the fact that the misuse and abuse of controlled substances is dangerous and can be deadly and impacts persons of all ages.
"Please remember the OPP supports Canada's Good Samaritan Drug Overdose Act, which provides protection from charges for individuals at the scene of a drug overdose for simple drug possession. The OPP believes that every life matters and our officers are committed to responding professionally to all overdoses."
