OPP Briefs

Briefs include two drug warrants executed in Tillsonburg this morning; A 38 year old from SWOX arrested on a DUI; A lottery scam and a pornography/extortion scam making the rounds in Norfolk.

MIDDLESEX CENTRE - A 38 year old from Southwest Oxford has been charged with impaired driving in Thames Centre.

Police say they stopped the vehicle on Thursday night just after 11. The driver was charged with impaired driving.

NORFOLK COUNTY - Norfolk OPP are warning the public about a lottery scam making the rounds locally. 

Last month, a resident was told they had won a grand prize of $15,000. In order to collect the prize though, they needed to purchase $900 in gift cards from various stores and then send all the identification numbers in order to process the prize. The person realized this was a scam right away and called police. 

Norfolk OPP are also warning the public about an extortion scam. 

Last month a resident got an email from someone saying their accounts and passwords had been compromised. They were told that they were being following online and that the scammer had gained access to the computers webcam and were in possession of video and pictures of them visiting various adult web sites. The scammer then asked for bitcoin, to be delivered within 48 hours, or they would make the pictures and videos public and forward them to everyone in her contact list.

TILLSONBURG - Two people have been arrested after a couple of search warrants were executed in Tillsonburg today.

The Oxford OPP Street Crime Unit, with help from OPP members in Brant, Middlesex and Elgin executed the drug warrants today. They found over $16,000 in drugs and property at the homes.

Two people were arrested and held for a bail hearing. Police have not released their names or ages at this time.
