Woodstock Police and OPP assisted with the investigation, which ended on Friday after the woman was travelling on the highway towards London and arrested near Woodstock.
WOODSTOCK - An 18-year-old woman from Oshawa was arrested near Woodstock after taking her nine-month-old daughter from her legal guardians.
According to the report, officers from the Central West Division arrived at a home near Conlin Road East and Simcoe Street North in Oshawa on Friday just before 4:30pm, when they received a call for a parental abduction.
The suspect, who doesn't have full custody of the child, took the nine-month-old without consent from the legal guardians and left in a rental vehicle towards London. OPP and Woodstock Police assisted with the investigation, which originally began with the Durham Regional Police, and the car was located near Woodstock.
The woman was taken into custody and charged with Abduction in Contravention of Custody Order. The child was safe and in good health, and returned to the legal guardians.
The name of the suspect is being withheld to protect the identity of the infant.
