$1,300 has been raised for the Thames Valley Children's Centre with the goal at $3,000
OTTERVILLE - An Otterville race truck driver is raising money for a good cause.
Over the last few months driver of the 88, Rick Verberne, has offered up his truck for a good cause - Verberne is letting people cover his truck in signatures all for the Thames Valley Children's Centre. "The truck's getting covered up fairly quickly and we're just over the $1 300 mark. Most people do $5 - $10 , and we've had a few people do substantially more. A lot of families - they'll do $25 - $30 for husband, wife, and two kids kind of deal."
Verberne has been taking the truck to events for the past few months, including a stop at the hospital back in June. He says a lot of kids and families are excited to see the truck, and thrilled to pitch in a small $2 donation for the chance to see their name cross the finish line.
August 15th the truck will be at Billy's Restaurant in London for their car show for the Children's Hospital.
If you want to get involved, the truck can usually be found at the Delaware Racetrack for Friday night truck races or outside of Otterville Motors during the work week. You can also follow Verberne's progress at @rverberne88 on Twitter.
By the end of the summer, they hope to reach $3 000 in donations.
