A retired Oxford County ambulance will be making its way to Ukraine soon as part of the Ambulances for Ukraine project
OXFORD COUNTY - Oxford County is donating one of their old ambulances to the Ambulances for Ukraine project. Council decided to donate the retired ambulance which has an approximate value of about $68 000 at a recent council meeting.
Warden David Mayberry says he believes this is the first time the county has donated an ambulance to a cause.
"The Canadian Commission for Ukraine will be taking ownership of the ambulance and I believe it is out of service so that can happen at any time."
The Canadian Commission of the Ukraine will also handle transporting the diesel powered GMC model ambulance to the European country.
Each year Oxford retires two of their 12 ambulances so they can be replaced by newer models.
