Kelly Black will take over the role, left vacant by Paul Beaton on March 28.
OXFORD COUNTY - Oxford County has hired a new Director of Human Services.
Kelly Black will take over the role, left vacant by Paul Beaton on March 28. Black is currently the CAO of the District of Timiskaming Social Services Administration Board. The board represents 23 municipalities and two unorganized areas providing oversight for and operation of Ontario Works, Children's Services, Housing Services and Paramedic Services. She is excited to start her new role with the County.
“Oxford County is a recognized innovator in how it delivers social services. I'm excited to learn more about local issues and the community partners who I know have been working so effectively to address the challenges of poverty, homelessness, and building children’s services.”
Oxford County CAO Michael Duben says the Director of Human Services is an extremely important role to fill.
"Human Services takes care of all of our social services, so child care, housing, Ontario Works, affordable housing, community housing, emergency housing, homelessness, which is obviously a big topic right now. It is a pretty big portfolio and we are looking forward to having Kelly join us."
Duben says they are very confident Black will be able to handle the role.
“We are extremely pleased to welcome Kelly to Oxford County. Her track record of advocacy, collaboration and relationship building is a welcomed addition to our community, where we work with our area municipalities to ‘grow stronger together’ in our service to the people of Oxford.”
