Oxford County is looking for the public's input for the 2027 municipal budget and the next Official Plan.
OXFORD - Oxford County is looking for the public's input!
It has launched a municipal budget survey, so residents can voice their thoughts on what should be included in the 2027 spending plan.
Warden Marcus Ryan says it takes a long time to create a budget, so that's why they launch this survey months in advance.
"We need to collect that public input and incorporate it into the budget wherever we can and get that in front of council. This time is will be a brand new council and they will have their first look at that in December."
The survey will close at the end of August and you can find it on the Speak Up Oxford website online here.
Oxford County has also launched another online survey about the next Official Plan. It's the document that determines how the county distributes land use and whether it's for residential, commercial or industrial.
Warden Ryan gives us some examples of questions you might find on that survey.
"What are your priorities? Do you want to see green spaces protected? Do you want us to prioritize agricultural space? Do you want to see more variety of housing? Do you want to see density of housing along transit corridors? Do you want to see urban growth boundaries stay the same or should they increase?"
That survey will also close on August 31st, the same day as the municipal budget survey. You can find it online here.
