Oxford County wants the provincial government to consider more alternatives as they look at plans for the high-speed rail.
OXFORD COUNTY - Oxford County Council is fully united as they prepare for the provincial government's planning and environmental assessment for the high-speed rail. The high-speed rail will connect Toronto to Windsor.
Warden David Mayberry says that the council wants the province to look at adjustments to more than just the location.
"What they should really be doing, if they want to look at alternatives, is looking at, is there a way at looking at existing track, is there a better system than high-speed rail."
This is a feeling felt by all of the Oxford's municipalities as they all are united on this front.
"The resolution tonight was accepting with thanks, the participation of all the municipalities, have passed resolutions supporting the County's position and that's good to see. We're united, we're stronger together."
The high-speed rail between Toronto and London is expected to be completed by 2025, and the extension to Windsor by 2031.
