Oxford County's renewable energy projects were once again in the spotlight at a green energy conference.
Mayor Trevor Birtch recently returned from the conference in Toronto. "I was there for two days and it is the largest renewable energy conference in Canada with over 4,000 attendees. On the first day MPP Bob Delaney the Parliamentary assistant to minister of energy was the keynote speaker. So I was able to be there to hear his talks and talk to him afterwards."
Delaney also had a glowing review for Oxford County, calling it a place to be when it comes to green energy. "There is no better place than to make the drive to Oxford County and see what it going on in Oxford County," Mayor Birtch summarized what Delaney said at the conference. "It's really reassuring to know that all of the hard work that community members are putting into these special committees is really paying off"
On the second day of the two day conference, Mayor Birtch delivered the keynote address. "I was able to brag about all the great things that are going on here in Woodstock and Oxford County. I was able to help inspire these people in the industry to reach out to their municipalities, to reach out to their provincial leaders and national leaders. This conference had people from all over the world. There were about 20 different countries there."
