The Oxford Health Coalition will be hosting a health summit at the Unifor 636 Hall on Saturday April 2nd. Members of the public will be able to attend in person or watch the livestream over Zoom.
OXFORD COUNTY - The Oxford Health Coalition is hosting a health summit in April.
They will have three guest speakers and residents are welcome to attend the event in person or through the Zoom link. Chair Bryan Smith says they will be talking about the Province's plan to expand private for profit clinics and hospitals in Ontario.
"Which will sap the resources out of the hospitals we have. It will not magically create a bunch of new doctors, or magically create new nurses or magically create new PSW's but will actually take funds away from the delivery of health services."
Smith says they have three expert guest speakers lined up to speak at the event.
"We have Natalie Mehra, who is probably the most knowledgeable woman about the delivery of public health in all of Canada. We have Linda McQuaig who you might recollect, she has been to Oxford before and helped us on a number of occasions. She is a journalist and best selling author and written for many newspapers, including the National Post, she has an incredible wit as well and really interesting to listen to. We also have Randy Robinson speaking, He is the Ontario director at the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives."
The free health summit is happening on April 2nd at 10:30 a.m. at the Unifor 636 Hall in Woodstock. You can register online beforehand online here.
