Oxford OPP Briefs - Tuesday January 5th, 2020

Oxford OPP briefs include a suspicious fire in Norwich, a vehicle fire in East Zorra-Tavistock and a suspicious person in Zorra Township.

NORWICH - Oxford OPP are investigating after a camping trailer went up in flames on John Street in Norwich.

The fire department responded at around 3:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon.

The blaze has been deemed suspicious and the Ontario Fire Marshall has been called in.

EAST ZORRA-TAVISTOCK - An investigation is underway after vehicle caught fire in East Zorra-Tavistock.

It happened on 14th Line late Friday morning and police say the vehicle was stolen in Woodstock beforehand.

BLANDFORD-BLENHEIM - No one was hurt after a two-year-old was accidentally locked in a vehicle in Blandford-Blenheim.

It happened on Gobles Road Friday afternoon and police say a tow truck driver was able to reunite the toddler with their parents.

INGERSOLL - Oxford OPP are looking to track down a black Jeep with a roll bar after a vehicle matching that description rammed into a locked gate in Ingersoll.

Police say it was driving along a trail in the Mckeand Street area Friday afternoon, when it rammed into the gate and drove across the lawn of a nearby home.

Officers believe the driver was a white man with brown hair.

ZORRA TOWNSHIP - Oxford OPP responded to a suspicious person call in Zorra Township.

Police say someone tried to gain access to a locked deck box on the front porch of a home on George Street early Friday morning.

They weren't able to get in and the male suspect was wearing a winter hat with a flap in the front left area.

WOODSTOCK - A 28-year-old from Mississauga has been charged with racing and a list of impaired driving related offences.

Oxford OPP pulled them over on the 401 in Woodstock Saturday night.

Police say they were going 150 kilometres per hour.

SOUTH WEST OXFORD - A 35-year-old from Mississauga is facing charges after they were pulled over on the 401 in South West Oxford.

OPP say they allegedly tailgated an eastbound police vehicle Saturday afternoon and they were caught going 140 kilometres per hour afterwards.

They have been charged with speeding, obstructing a plate and possession of unmarked cigarettes.

BLANDFORD-BLENHEIM - A 25-year-old from Brampton has been charged with stunt driving after they were pulled over on the 401 in Blandford-Blenheim.

Officers say the car was going 150 kilometres per hour Saturday morning.
