Oxford OPP Briefs

Briefs include a plethora of thefts from vehicles, they even took a prayer book, hopefully who ever took it, reads it. Also two vehicles were stolen in the County last night, both were unlocked with the keys inside and mischief in Norwich.

TILLSONBURG - A prayer book, insurance documents, ownership and a bottle of water have been stolen from a car in Tillsonburg. 

Police say the items were taken early Tuesday morning from a car parked on Rolph Street. Hopefully whoever stole the prayer book, actually reads it, because they maybe should.

The OPP is urging all vehicle owners to lock and secure their vehicle and to remove any valuables. If anyone observes suspicious activity they are being asked to call police immediately.

EAST ZORRA TAVISTOCK - A grey 2009 Honda Civic has been stolen from a home on Oxford Road 8 in East Zorra Tavistock. 

The car was taken early Tuesday morning. The keys were left in the unlocked vehicle, making it an easy target. 

Below are some simple steps to help reduce the number of stolen vehicles and protect you as the vehicle owner:

- Do not leave your keys in your vehicle. 
- Do not leave your vehicle running.
- Lock your vehicle.
- Treat your keys like cash - Don't leave keys in places where they are easy to steal such as a gym locker, on your desk at work, in an open purse or unattended in a shopping cart.
- Never leave anything in your vehicle in plain view such as loose change, cell phones, cameras, clothing, gifts, cigarettes, medication, firearms or any other valuables.
- Install a remote car starter - Remote starters are designed to shut off if anyone attempts to drive the vehicle without a key. This will allow you to warm up your car without risk of theft.

INGERSOLL - Prescription sunglasses and a bag full of bats and other baseball equipment have been stolen from a vehicle parked on Rolph Street in Ingersoll. 

OPP say the theft happened sometime between Sunday and Monday. The baseball equipment and sunglasses are worth an estimated $1,600.

OTTERVILLE - Oxford OPP are investigating a case of mischief on Otterville Road. 

Police say someone smashed the windshield and the passenger side window on a parked pickup truck early Tuesday morning.

INGERSOLL - A 2008 black Dodge Caravan has been stolen from a driveway in Ingersoll. 

OPP say the van was left unlocked and the keys were inside. It was taken early Tuesday morning.

TILLSONBURG - OPP say that insurance and ownership documents were stolen from at least three unlocked vehicles in Tillsonburg overnight. 

The OPP is urging all vehicle owners to lock and secure their vehicle and to remove any valuables. If anyone observes suspicious activity they are being asked to call police immediately.

Members of the Oxford County OPP are continuing to investigate all of these incidents and are seeking the public's assistance with these investigations. If anyone has any information they are being asked to contact the Oxford County OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
