Oxford OPP Briefs

Briefs include a 55 year old Thamesford man accused of assaulting a store employee in Ingersoll, stunt driver busted in Zorra Township and an impaired driver arrested on Fathers Day in Ingersoll.

INGERSOLL - A 55 year old man from Thamesford has been charged with assault after allegedly attacking an employee at a business on King Street in Ingersoll.

Police say the man was being verbally aggressive to an employee inside the store early Saturday evening. Another staff member attempted to intervene in order to deescalate the situation, however was assaulted by the customer.

The individual left the property, only to be located shortly afterwards and arrested.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Woodstock at a later date.

ZORRA TOWNSHIP - A 21 year old from London will be walking for a bit after getting charged with stunt driving on Road 68 in Zorra Township. 

Police say the clocked the man doing over 50 km/h of the posted speed limit just after midnight on Saturday. 

A seven day licence suspension and seven day vehicle impoundment are automatically incurred with this offence.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Woodstock at a later date.

The Oxford County OPP want to remind motorists that excessive speed is one of the leading causes of deaths on our highways. Slow down and drive safe.

INGERSOLL - A 61 year old man from Ingersoll has been charged with impaired driving. 

OPP arrested the man after responding to a traffic complaint on Charles Street on Sunday afternoon. Police say the man was displaying signs of impairment when they pulled him over and he was taken into custody. 

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Woodstock at a later date.
