Many roads and areas are still under construction, and the Oxford OPP wants to ensure everyone's safety.
OXFORD COUNTY - Construction is still happening around Oxford County.
The OPP wants to send out a reminder saying everyone is responsible for ensuring safe roads and sidewalks. Community Safety and Media Relations Officer Constable Randi Crawford has this message from a video posted to the OPP West Region's Facebook page.
"Students and pedestrians, please keep an extra eye open. Stay off your phones to ensure you are being vigilant, because some of these vehicles aren't used to traveling down the roads that they are going on, on detours, and we don't want anybody to get injured."
She also shared this message in the video.
"Please everyone, I am asking you to be patient, kind, and compassionate, and just give yourself a little bit more time when you are going to and from and have to go around a detour."
Crawford mentions motorists still need to obey the speed limits on the roads on the detour route, and not speed to try and make up potential lost time. Crawford added motorists have to obey the road closed signs, as there will be holes in the road along with construction equipment, which could lead to damage to vehicles.
