The Woodstock Fairgrounds has travelled back in time this weekend and have lowered their prices
WOODSTOCK - Knights, Queens, and an International Jousting tournament - all right here in Woodstock!
The Oxford Renaissance Festival returns for its third year at the Woodstock Fair Grounds. Director Greg Schuurman says you don't have to dress up to have a good time. "It's really open for everyone - I know a lot of events say that, but the Ren Fest truly is because you can come as you are. We're not about history or re-enactment, I mean obviously we're in a history time period, but it's more of a pop culture event with tonnes of comedy, tonnes of music, very family friendly."
Of course, a Renaissance Festival isn't complete without knights and jousting: "The last two years we've had the Knights of Valour - which was really loved doing our jousting. But this year we're actually hosting an international jousting tournament. So we're going to have jousters from all over the Canada and the US and they're going to compete for a championship at the end of the weekend." Both male and female jousters will be competing in this tournament. Jousting will be going on all weekend, with the first official bout at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday.
There's plenty of other entertainment as well; comedy routines, live theatre performances, a Live Action Roleplay tournament, and vendors selling all kinds of medieval inspired merchandise.
Parking for the event is free, but they will be taking donations for the Murray Foundation. Your admission cost covers live entertainment and performances. Ticket prices are:
