Oxford County Council handed out some hardware, honouring some members in the community during a council meeting last night.
OXFORD COUNTY - Oxford County Council recognized some outstanding individuals during last night's council meeting.
Norwich's Lynn and Leslie Sage were the recipients of this year's Oxford Stewardship Award.
The sisters were selected for their passion and commitment to preserving the natural beauty of their land on Old Stage Road.
Lynn, who was in attendance to accept the award, says they're very happy to receive this honour.
"It feels great, unexpected, but it is wonderful and it's nice to know how council appreciates trees and what they're trying to do for the increase in tree coverage for the county."
Lynn and Leslie were among the three candidates nominated for the award. Oxford County is honouring this year's recipient with a $500 gift certificate towards the purchase of original artwork from local artist, Paul Walker.
Plus, they will be added to the recognition wall inside the Oxford County Administration building.
Lynn says after winning this award, they're going to continue to plant trees in their community.
"Just do the same as what we've always done; enjoy the trees, appreciate them and keep planting. It's one of those things that you don't stop, you just keep doing it."
