Long time business owner Tom Palen thinks it is time for some new blood on Council.
SOUTH-WEST OXFORD -- A lifelong Oxford County resident has thrown his hat in the ring for South-West Oxford's municipal election.
Tom Palen filed for Ward 3 Councillor, saying it's time for some new faces on the Township's council. "I've lived in South-West Oxford all my life and I think it's just time for new blood on the council. A lot of older fellas have been there a long time and I think there's a need for new blood, I think it's become a bit more stagnant than it should and it would benefit from new ideas from just an average taxpayer."
Palen says he has owned several businesses over the past 30 years which he feels would serve as an asset for the Township's council. "That's given me valuable experience that I trust would help serve the residents of our township with leadership and fairness as they would demand. Also my knowledge in successful business would allow me to bring a common sense government that would not over-spend and continue to raise taxes at rates above the average persons wage increases."
Palen has also been involved in the community for a number of years, coaching youth soccer, baseball and basketball -- including 7 years in local public and high schools, as well as coaching youth at the provincial level.
