Restaurants in Woodstock can apply to open up a patio and start serving customers right away.
WOODSTOCK - Patios and outdoor eateries will soon be popping up all over Woodstock now that city council has given the move green light.
Permission was given for bars and eateries to extend their outdoor seating. In some cases they will cover sidewalks in front of the establishments and in others they will extend into the municipal parking lots located out back. Woodstock Mayor Trevor Birtch says people should look in the front and in back of an establishment for a patio.
"Some will be store front on Dundas Street, some will be in the municipal parking lot behind the establishments to accommodate more individuals. This will also happen for many of the other pubs and eateries and some of the box store restaurants. Make sure you are patient with your servers and make sure you maintain that proper physical distancing."
Businesses will have to apply to the city for permission to open. Councils in Ingersoll and Tillsonburg voted to allow similar expansions earlier in the week.
