Pittock Unsafe

Lab tests show elevated e-coli levels

WOODSTOCK - Elevated e-coli levels at Pittock mean the water is unsafe for swimming.

Lab tests from Wednesday came back showing bacteria levels which were above the provincial standard.

E. coli bacteria in water is an indicator of fecal contamination from either animals or people or both. E. coli and other disease-causing organisms can cause skin, eye, ear, nose and throat infections or gastrointestinal illness.

Supervisor of Health Protection for the County, Peter Heywood says this week’s high e-coli count, coupled with the discovery of blue-green algae earlier this month means swimming at Pittock could be hazardous to your health.
