PJHL - It was a rough weekend for Oxford County's Junior C teams with only one celebrating a win.
The Woodstock Navy Vets won the battle of Highway 59 on Friday with a 3-2 victory over the Norwich Merchants at Southwood Arena. Connor Stanley, Gavin Birmingham, and Nolan Brett scored the goals for Woodstock while Tyler Bouck finished the night with 32 saves.
The Tavistock Braves also suffered a 3-2 loss to the Wellesley Applejacks at the Tavistock and District Recreation Centre Friday night. Their luck didn't change on Saturday, when they were shutout by the Dorchester Dolphins 6-0.
The New Hamburg Firebirds currently lead the Doherty Division standings with 20 points. They're followed by the Applejacks with 17 points, the Merchants with 14 points, the Navy Vets with 13 points, and the Dolphins with 10 points. The Braves are tied for sixth place with the Hespeler Shamrocks with eight points each, and the Paris Titans sit in last place with three points.
Meanwhile in the Yeck Division, the Thamesford Trojans were doubled by the Aylmer Spitfires 6-3 yesterday.
Thamesford is in second place in the Yeck Division standings with 12 points, while the Exeter Hawks and the Petrolia Flyers are tied for first place with 20 points each.
