PJHL Weekend Recap - January 13th to January 15th

The Woodstock Navy Vets suffered an 8-6 loss to the Wellesley Applejacks Friday night but went on to celebrate a 5-2 win over the Paris Mounties on Saturday.

PJHL - It was a mixed weekend for the Woodstock Navy Vets.

They suffered an 8-6 loss to the Applejacks at Southwood Arena Friday night. Nolan Brett scored two goals for the Vets, with the other goals scored by Davin Gray, Ethan Szabo, Eric Tuori, and Jake Phelan. 

The Vets went on to celebrate a 5-2 win over the Mounties in Paris Saturday night. Graeme Noye finished the night with 33 saves for Woodstock.

Meanwhile, the Tavistock Braves were shutout by the New Hamburg Firebirds 1-0 on Friday, and fell to the Norwich Merchants 3-1 on Saturday. The Merchants also demolished the Hespeler Shamrocks at Nor-Del Arena Friday night with a final score of 12-1.

The Firebirds are currently leading the Doherty Division standings with 51 points. They're followed by the Applejacks with 47 points, the Merchants with 39 points, the Braves with 33 points, the Navy Vets with 27 points, the Shamrocks with 10 points, and the Mounties with five points.

In the Yeck Division, the Thamesford Trojans suffered a 4-3 overtime loss to the Mount Brydges Bulldogs on Friday and celebrated a 6-2 win over the Port Stanley Sailors on Saturday. The Trojans are currently tied with the Exeter Hawks for first place in the division standings with 41 points each.
