The event schedule includes a firefighter breakfast, a parade, a car and tractor show, and a drone show at dusk.

PLATTSVILLE - It's a big year for the Plattsville community.

It will be celebrating it's 175th birthday on Saturday and plans are underway for a big celebration. Tina Young is one of the organizers for Plattsville 175, and she gives us a preview of what to expect.

''The day kicks off with a firefighter breakfast, then we have a parade that will start at noon. We have vendor markets, we have a car and tractor show, we have live entertainment with local performers, there's a petting zoo, and there's a scavenger hunt so people can explore the event."

Denise Tew is the other co-organizer of this event and she explains how it came to be.

"We've been organizing since early January.  We were successful in getting a grant through Canadian Heritage. It's going to be designated with some historical components of Plattsville, so it's going to tell a story."

Plattsville 175 will remember Tyler Todd and the other 157 Canadian soldiers killed in the line of duty in Afghanistan with the Portraits of honour.

Tina Young and Denise Tew stopped by the Heart FM studio to chat with Dan and Marcie on Tuesday, June 16th. You can listen to the full interview below:
