INGERSOLL - A much anticipated project in Ingersoll is not just breaking down barriers - now it's breaking ground as well.
Executive Director of Playright Playground Dave Cripps says things are moving along well for the accessible playground in Victoria Park. "Excavation actually occurred on Canada Day and we're just about to put the first posts in now. It's going awesome - we have about 25 volunteers out here today, working away."
Cripps says they are still accepting help from anyone who wants to come out and volunteer their time. All you need to do is come out to the job site in Victoria Park, find registration staff in a green Playright Playgrounds shirt, and they will take you over to the registration booth to get you started. Any help is appreciated as they have set a very tight timeline - they hope to have the playground completely finished for a grand opening on July 17th.
"July 17th we have our movie in the park. It will actually coincide the grand opening of this playground," says Cripps. "It will be held in Victoria Park actually adjacent to this new playground that we're putting in here, in the splash pad, on the ball diamond. By donation only, so we'll have our Playright volunteers out in the crowd. People are invited to give what they can, or what they want to."
