Premier Doug Ford will provide a pre-recorded greeting for the Oxford County Situation Table's virtual community update next week. Solicitor General Sylvia Jones will also be one of the guest speakers.
OXFORD COUNTY - The Oxford County Situation Table is inviting everyone to sit in on the annual community report.
Guest speakers include the Executive Director of Community Justice Karyn McCluskey, who will be speaking virtually from Scotland. She is the founding member of the Situation Table, as they have chapters all over the world.
Two special guests have been added to the event as well. Premier Doug Ford will be providing a pre-recorded greeting to kick start the meeting and Ontario's Solicitor General Sylvia Jones has been added as a guest speaker.
Chair of the Oxford Situation Table Working Committee Sarah Irwin will be another guest speaker for the virtual event. The Oxford Situation Table meets every week and Irwin says they have a goal to help people at risk in our community.
"We are a social service and justice group that gets together and try to help people, community and families that are experiencing a situation of risk or emergency and help them through out services."
The community report will go over all of the work they are doing in Oxford County. Irwin says the pandemic has hit a lot of people hard and some of the hardships may come as a surprise to residents.
"People may be surprised to hear just how devastating the opioid crisis has been in Oxford County in the last year and half and how our table is functioning, in comparison to the rest of the Province."
The free virtual event is happening on Thursday October 28th from 10:00 a.m. to noon. They do ask people to register beforehand, which you can do online here.
