Premier Ford Responds After PM Invokes Emergency Act

Ford says he supports invoking the Emergency Act, but special powers need to be targeted.

Premier Doug Ford has responded after Prime Minister Justin Trudeau invoked the Emergencies Act yesterday in an effort  to bring an end to convoy protests in Ottawa and other areas.

The Premier told reporters today that while he believes in the right to protest, the situation is putting people's livelihoods at risk.

"The situation is blocking billions and billions of dollars of trade, and we're getting a handle on it, but it's very concerning. It's putting hundreds of thousands of jobs on the line, and it's continuing to disrupt the lives of one million people in Ottawa who have been held hostage."

He says he spoke to Prime Minister Trudeau, saying that special actions need to be targeted and temporary in order to restore law and order.
