Premier Ford Says He's Sorry

"Simply put, we got it wrong. We made a mistake. These decisions, they left a lot of people really concerned. For that I am sorry, and I sincerely apologize."

ONTARIO - Ontario Premier Doug Ford apologized to Ontarians today for some of the measures he implemented late Friday afternoon.

Ford held a virtual press conference the morning, the first time he has spoken publicly since the announcement. He is currently staying at his mothers home in Etobicoke in isolation after a staff member tested positive for COVID-19.

Ford says all they wanted to do was curb the surging cases of COVID-19 but admits they went to fast. He specifically apologized for the some of the new policing powers and the playground decision that were both reversed over the weekend.

"Simply put, we got it wrong. We made a mistake. These decisions, they left a lot of people really concerned. For that I am sorry, and I sincerely apologize."

The Premier was pretty emotional at the start of the conference, choking up at times. He brushed off suggestions that he should resign and said he is going to stay on as Premier.

Ford also confirmed the Province is working on a plan to provide workers with paid sick leave benefits but did not provide further details.
