Talks on moving onto the next stage of the Waste Recovery and Technology Plan have been put on hold. Oxford County council decided during Wednesday's meeting to not move forward at this time.
WOODSTOCK - Oxford County council has declined to move on to the next phase of Waste Recovery and Reduction Technology Plan.
Staff have decided to table it for now after not reaching a decision on the procurement process at a meeting on Wednesday.
Councillor David Mayberry says council will still move forward with other aspects of the project
"We had at the last meeting, I think we asked them to bring a report forward to say 'where are we? Should we move a little bit, should stop where we are?' And they suggested we kind of finish the step we're at, but council didn't want to do that."
A work plan was brought forward to staff asking to complete the procurement options analysis, however they turned it down. There is approximately $65,000 of work activity remaining to complete this stage, in addition to updating the WRRT sitting configuration and refine the lifecycle costing for capital, operational and maintenance.
He says although staff has decided not to move forward for now, they still are raising awareness and educating the public on how to remove their garbage and recycle their waste.
Mayberry adds it will be put on hold until council is ready to continue.
"I think they'll basically put it on the shelf for awhile and then when council is ready to say, 'oh, well we do need to finish that' then pick it up and then hopefully be able to use most of the work without having to kind of re-do too much of it."
