Perth County Public Health has a special promotion for World Water Day on March 22nd.
PERTH COUNTY - Perth County Public Health is offering up a free water bottle to anyone who has a private well.
The bottles are offered in exchange for a drop off well water sample between March 18th and 29th. The promotion is being done in association with World Water Day on March 22nd. Public Health Inspector Kate Beath says the hope is that it will encourage more people to get their well water tested.
“It’s important to test your well water three times a year – spring, summer and fall. Frequent testing will keep you up-to-date on the quality of your drinking water and provide an early warning signal to potential problems.”
Private well owners in Perth County can test their well water for bacteria free of charge. Water testing kits are available at the locations listed below and at local municipal offices.
To receive a free water bottle (while supplies last), drop off your well water sample between Monday, March 18, and Friday, March 29, at:
- Perth District Health Unit, 653 West Gore St., Stratford; Monday to Thursday, 8:30am - 4:30pm, Friday 8:30am – 11:30am.
- Knollcrest Lodge (front desk), 50 William St., Milverton; Monday to Thursday, 8:30am - 4:30pm.
Water samples can also be dropped off at the following locations, however, there are no free water bottles to pick up:
- Listowel Memorial Hospital (outpatients lab, enter through Emergency Department), 255 Elizabeth St E.; Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm.
- London Public Health Lab, 850 Highbury Avenue, 5th Floor; Monday to Friday, 8:15am - 4:30pm.
Well owners who wish to have their water supply tested for fluoride, nitrates, nitrites or pesticides can do so through a private accredited laboratory for a fee.
