Province Eases Long Term Care Home Restrictions

Long-term care residents will soon be able to welcome more visitors.

Rod Phillips, Minister of Long-Term Care, announced several changes for long-term care residents today.

Effective Wednesday, July 7th, residents will be able to have outdoor visits of up to ten people.

Indoor visits with two caregivers and two general visitors is also allowed.

Residents will also be able to receive personal care services.

In addition, there is no longer a limit on the number of people who can be designated as a caregiver by a resident or their substitute decision-maker.

Restrictions will be further eased when Ontario enters Step Three of the re-opening plan.

These changes are expected to include removing the limits on the number of visitors, permitting buffet and family style dining, and allowing all residents to go on absences regardless of immunization status.
