Two spots in Woodstock will have funding to help with mental health supports. A portion of $750,000 will go to each spot, and it is a part of over 5-million dollars being invested for Southwestern Ontario.
OXFORD COUNTY - Provincial funding has been released to help with new supportive housing units.
The government is investing $5,841,667, which will go towards 641 new builds across Southwestern Ontario.
There will be $750,000 dedicated to three separate locations, with two of them being right here in Woodstock. Harvey Park and Blossom Park will each see a portion of the money and be able to put it towards community mental health supports.
A release sent out by Oxford MPP, Ernie Hardeman's office has him quoted as saying, "This is excellent news for our community."
He also stated in the same release, "Our government recognizes the acute need to provide mental health and addictions supportive housing to assist people in making successful transitions from housing instability to permanent homes."
This investment supports the Roadmap to Wellness plan and is meant to help vulnerable groups requiring affordable housing and support services to live independently with access to the community-based supports they need.
