The Canadian Cancer Society of Oxford is getting ready for their big Daffodil Dash, formerly known as the Cool Runnings.
WOODSTOCK - The Canadian Cancer Society of Oxford is inviting local running enthusiasts to sign up for their big Daffodil Dash.
The six year breast cancer awareness fundraiser was formerly known as Cool Runnings.
According to Community Fundraising Specialist Hailey Parliament, the Daffodil Dash had its success out in British Columbia. With the recent merger with the Canadian Cancer Foundation, our local branch has come under the Daffodil Dash umbrella.
"Out west they've had a lot of success with the Daffodil Dash so we've decided to come under there and have it tie in with the Canadian Cancer Society."
They're hoping to raise $10,000 in Roth Park on Saturday October 20th. This will add to the $60,000 already raised for the cause.
Parliament adds runners will be able to enjoy the beautiful fall scenery during throughout the day.
"It's a very beautiful run with all the fall colours and we also get to open up the dam and have runners go over the dam and get a look down over the park and the Thames River."
Registration will open at 8:30 a.m. The Kids Fun Run will kick things off at 9:30 a.m. and the 5K and 10K will get started at 10 a.m.
Anyone interested in signing up can register online here. Please note the registration fees will go up after Friday October 12th.
