Registration Open for In-Car Scavenger Hunt in Norwich Township

The Norwich Fire Service will be hosting an in-car scavenger hunt on Saturday June 19th and you have until Monday June 14th to sign up.

NORWICH TOWNSHIP - The Norwich Fire Service is about to host a fundraiser that's COVID safe and fun for the whole family.

It will be hosting an in-car scavenger hunt on Saturday June 19th from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Heather Kok, one of the organizers, says there will be a variety of different challenges to complete.

"There will be physically challenging missions, missions that will test our general knowledge and our knowledge about our town's history, case based missions and fun and creative missions. We have outlined all the missions on an app called GooseChase which will allow the teams to see all of the missions at once. The teams will get to choose which ones they will complete."

She gives us an example of one of the challenges.

"In Norwich we have a very large stroopwafel factory. One of the missions will be to go there and taste test various flavours of stroopwafel and they have to guess which is their best seller."

All of the missions will be spread out throughout the entire Township and each of them will be worth a certain amount of points. Once you reach a certain point total you will be able to race to the finish line and be entered into one of three prize draws.

Kaitlyn Vrugteveen is also helping make this event possible and she says the safety of everyone involved is their number one priority.

"This is why we have made it an in-car scavenger hunt so everyone will be able to be physically distant and all of our missions will be able to be completed following all COVID regulations."

It costs $40 for per vehicle to register and each team must have one driver and someone with access to the GooseChase smartphone app. All teams must be registered by Monday June 14th and all you have to do is text Vrugteveen at 519-532-0028 if you're interested in signing up.

All of the proceeds raised will benefit the local community. The Norwich Fire Service is planning on setting the money aside for local sports teams, events and fireworks displays. It's also going to purchase some equipment for a new aerial ladder truck that will be purchased sometime in the near future.
