Police say to practice social distancing with family over social media as video conferencing is encouraged, however they're also asking people to be careful of links and ensure they are legitimate.
WOODSTOCK - Woodstock Police have a message for everyone this Easter Long Weekend.
They want to remind everyone of the responsibility to themselves and the community.
Although the Easter season is often a time where families, communities and religious groups gather, police ask everyone to abide by the Government of Ontario’s Emergency Orders and health care professionals recommendations. This includes not gathering more than five (5) people from different households, regardless of whether you are considered family or biologically related.
Stay home, unless necessary to leave. If leaving home is necessary, please practice physical distancing and appropriate hygiene by leaving at least two meters between you, proper hand washing and if you need to cough or sneeze please turn away from others and cough or sneeze into your elbow.
If you enjoy celebrating on long weekends by consuming alcohol or drugs, please do so in the safety and comfort of your home. Although there are less vehicles on the roads during this time, police will not be tolerating dangerous or impaired driving.
Spending time with loved ones via social media and video conferencing is encouraged, but please do so safely. Ensure links to Zoom or other video chats are legitimate. Do not click links to video chats from strangers.
Links could be fraudulent or you could end up in a video/conversation you do not wish to be a part of.
Woodstock Police will continue to work diligently to support Woodstock’s safety and well being.
