Got something you want to get rid of? Bring it to Reuseapaloozaha!
EMBRO - You know what they say, one man's trash is another man's treasure.
Reuseapaloozaha will be taking place at the Embro Community Centre on Saturday September 23rd this year. Organizer Bryan Smith explains what it's all about.
"It's really about that moment when you discover that all of those things that you have, that you don't know why you have, could be reused by somebody else. So you bring them to what is essentially a giant swap meet."
You set the items down on a table, and then you can walk around to see if there ia anything you want to take home.
Some of the items that you could find include clothes, kitchen supplies, children's toys, books and more. However, Smith says there are a few items that you're not allowed to bring.
"Anything that's a hazardous waste. We're not licensed to handle those things so they have to go through the Waste Management Facility in Salford. We also don't want anything that has been upholstered because sometimes they can be problematic."
Smith says you also shouldn't bring anything that can't be reused by someone else.
The doors will open at 8:00 a.m. and there will be a constant flow of people bringing items up until the 12:00 p.m. closing time. All of the unclaimed items at the end of the event will be donated to retail charities including Goodwill and the Habitat for Humanity Restore.
Smith is looking for volunteers for the event, adding it's a great opportunity for high school students to get their community hours.
