Ride Oxford Provides New Cycling Maps

Ride Oxford has launched a new cycling map and hopes cyclists will be able to get out and enjoy the scenery of our community

OXFORD COUNTY - Those eager to start cycling around Oxford County this summer can have more of an enjoyable experience with the help from Ride Oxford.  Tourism Specialist, for Tourism Oxford, Meredith Maywood wants all cyclists to give this new project a try.  "Ride Oxford is a website that promotes cycling and motorcycling in Oxford County.  What we launched this year is a new cycling map, which we are calling Ride Oxford, that has 11 routes for people cycling around Oxford County, to visit some of the beautiful scenery and visit some of the great places along the way."
Maywood is urging avid social media users to use #RideOxford to provide pictures from their experiences on this popular form of exercising.  "Cycling is a growing group of people that are going out and visiting areas.  We didn't have a way that easily provided them with routes for the county, the Oxford County Cycling Committee got together and provided some recommendations that came up with decent routes.  We have had a great response from cyclists, they are eager to get information on new places to ride in the area."

With over 1000 maps being printed, Maywood knows that Oxford may not be the first county to provide these maps for cyclists but they are working to be the best.  "We reviewed all the maps available from different communities and made some improvements for our area.  We have route sheets available online, so it is great to give people a route that they should be using for cycling but then they don't know where they park, where they can access the restroom, fill their waterbottles those are all features and amenities that make it easier for somebody planning to get out for a ride."

Although the maps are geared towards cyclists those looking to go for small drives can also find this service beneficial.  Maywood is hoping local businesses will come forward to have their establishments added to the map along certain routes.
