Heavy cross examination to the accused John Robinson as the Crown tries to identify his motivation for hitting Clifford Fair. Robinson has been on the stand testifying in his own first degree murder trial since Monday. As cross examination started this afternoon Crown Attorney Tom Meehan has asked Robinson some difficult questions. Robinson's past criminal record was first addressed, in specific his "crimes of dishonesty." Next Meehan asked Robinson about his drinking "quota" and how much was consumed on the night in question. Robinson says he had around 7 beers then shared 5 more with Fair when he was at his Princess Street apartment. This is when Robinson was asked about his motivation for hitting Fair over the head with a metal pipe. He had multiple answers: He wanted Fair to leave, Fair was making fun of their decor, and stealing from them just to name a few. The cross examination resumes Thursday morning.
