Safer Internet For All

To mark International Safer Internet Day The OPP and Canadian Centre for Child Protection encourage open discussion.

Everyone is reminded to review their online habits, and teach children safe practices online.

Today is International Safer Internet Day.

The OPP and the Canadian Centre for Child Protection are working together to protect children from digital threats. A variety of programs, services, and resources are available through this partnership at ProtectChildren.ca

The hope is more parents will have frank, open discussions with their children about their online behaviour, and will imbue those kids with the skills needed to safely navigate the sometimes toxic world online.

If someone is concerned about the welfare of a child online, they are encouraged to contact police or leave a tip at CyberTip.ca to report online sexual exploitation of children.

The theme this year is 'Be the Change: Unite for a Better Internet.' The official hashtag #SID2017 can also be used to join in on the discussion.
