Saying So Long

Marion Wearn, (submitted)

After dedicating 20 years to Blandford Blenheim Township Council, Marion Wearn is stepping down.

BLANDFORD BLENHEIM TOWNSHIP - Blandford Blenheim will have a new mayor later this year.

Marion Wearn is retiring from the local political scene, after dedicating 20 years to the township.

She served her first three terms as a councillor, before she decided to run for Mayor.

"I just got tired of serving under Mayors that didn't necessarily put the people first and I thought there was a better way to run the council."

Wearn is now wrapping up her second term as the woman in charge.

She is going to miss delivering certificates to residents celebrating special birthdays and anniversaries.

"I would hand deliver it myself and get the opportunity to get to know those people. That was something I really enjoyed doing."

Wearn says she enjoyed all aspects of the job in the end.
