Multiple people called 9-1-1 after an impaired driver was spotted speeding through the picnic area by the beach on Sunday afternoon at Wildwood.
ST MARYS - A scary scene at the Wildwood Conservation Area on Sunday.
Police say an man driving an SUV was speeding through the picnic area by the beach in the middle of the afternoon. Several people called 9-1-1 to complain.
A Conservation Officer from the Park was able to safely stop the vehicle and hold the man until police arrived. Stratford Police say they suspected the driver was impaired and took him back to the station where he provided samples of breath that
indicated he was above the legal limit of alcohol allowed to operate a vehicle.
The 59 year old driver from London was charged with impaired driving, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and breach of probation.
The driver was released from custody on an Undertaking with a court date of August 31, 2020. Further to the criminal charges, the driver was also issued a ticket under the Cannabis Control Act for Drive Vehicle with Cannabis in Open Baggage.
