After a search along the Thames for two canoeists, Oxford OPP have deemed no one to be missing or injured.
OXFORD COUNTY - Oxford OPP have called off the search for two canoeists who were in apparent distress on the Thames River. OPP believe there is no further search is required and believe there to be no injured or missing canoeists at this time.
A concerned citizen contacted authorities around 2:57pm Sunday, November 26th, 2017.
The good Samaritan called in to authorities after losing sight of the canoeists near Ingersoll Street North, at that time, OPP canine Services, Ingersoll Fire Department, Oxford County EMS as well as members of the OPP Emergency Response Team attended to the scene.
The male canoeist were reported to have been calling for help, were not wearing life-jackets and not dressed for cool temperatures. The citizen who called authorities followed the men along the river bank and after losing sight of the canoeists, called the police.
