Senate Passes Revised Version of Assisted Dying Bill

Intolerably suffering Canadians who are not near the end of their natural lives will now have the right seek medical assistance in dying.

CANADA - Canada's assisted dying rules have officially been expanded.

A revised version of Bill C7 passed in the Senate last night by a vote of 60-25, with five abstentions. It received royal assent hours later.

This means intolerably suffering people who are not near the natural end of their lives now have the right to seek medical assistance in dying. In another two years, this will also apply to people suffering solely from grievous and incurable mental illnesses.

Dying with Dignity Canada says this is a big moment for end-of-life rights in Canada.
