A tip from hotel staff led police to the arrest of seven suspects from Cainsville, London, and Woodstock. The suspects received a laundry list of charges.
WOODSTOCK - A tip to local police has resulted in seven suspects being arrested and charged with multiple offences.
Police were tipped off on Sunday by hotel staff at the Quality Inn on Bruin Blvd. of suspicious activity at the property.
Staff became suspicious that stolen credit cards were being used to rent their rooms.
Members from the Criminal Investigation Branch continued with the investigation that led to the recovery of three stolen vehicles. Charges were also laid in relation to damage that was caused to the rooms that had been fraudulently rented by using a stolen credit card.
The ongoing investigation involves numerous individuals from Cainsville, London, and Woodstock.
Police have charged seven suspects with the following criminal offences:
· Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5000.00
· Fail to Comply with Recognizance
· Mischief Under $5000.00
· Break and Enter
· Possession of a Schedule 1 controlled substance
· Use stolen credit card
· Breach of Probation
Suspects were also charged with:
· Fail to Comply with Order during Emergency for gathering as a group of more than five people contrary to the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act (EMCPA). The maximum punishment for this offence is one-year imprisonment or a fine of up to $100,000.00.
